Uptown Park Dental uses Six Month Smiles®, AOA’s Simpli5™ - Express Clear Aligner System and Invisalign®.

Six Month Smiles® - Short Term Ortho System.

This technique offers tremendous advantages over traditional metal braces.

  • Unlike the traditional braces people must often wear for two to four years, this procedure straightens teeth in an average of just six months and uses low forces to gently move teeth more comfortably.
  • The Six Month Smiles® System utilizes specialized clear brackets and tooth-colored wires – making them virtually invisible.
  • The procedure requires fewer dentist visits and is typically less expensive than traditional braces.

In addition, the Six Month Smiles® System can result in healthier gums, since straight teeth are easier to clean than crooked teeth.

AOA’s Simpli5™ - Express Clear Aligner System

  • Impressions to aligners in just 3-4 weeks
  • Most cases finish in 5 months
  • Ideal for any anterior case requiring minor to intermediate corrections and orthodontic relapse

What is Simpli5™?
Simpli5™ is a system of clear aligners used to treat mild orthodontic problems. Simpli5™ derived its name since it is a five-aligner orthodontic system (i.e. only requires 5 aligners in total). If both the upper and lower teeth need correcting then technically 10 aligner will be required or (5 sets of 2 aligners!).

Who is the ideal candidate for the Simpli5™ system?

  • Minor malocclusions – cases where only small rotations are required or minor tooth gaps need to be closed.
  • Post orthodontic refinement – the Simpli5™ system is ideal for those people who require minor refinements following more extensive braces treatment.
  • Correction of orthodontic relapse – following orthodontic treatment many people forget to wear their retainers and teeth begin to move back towards their original position. The Simpli5™ system is ideal for those who want to correct the small movements that have occurred in such cases.
  • Pre veneer alignments – the Simpli5™ system can be used to correct minor alignments problems before veneers are placed and this reduced the amount of tooth reduction that is required for veneers.

How long does treatment with the Simpli5™ system take?
The treatment time depends on the amount of tooth movement required but typically treatment times are between 10–20 weeks.

What is the process for Simpli5™?

  • 1. Following an initial consultation, Dr. Rodgers will assess your suitability for the system. He will take impressions / models of your teeth and send them to the Simpli5™ laboratory.
  • 2. Your teeth models will be used as a template to fabricate your Simpli5™ clear aligners.
  • 3. You will wear each set of aligners for 3-4 weeks for about 20 hours a day only removing them to eat and clean your teeth. You will know when it is time to change to your next set of aligners when your aligners begin to feel loose.
  • 4. Once your final set of aligners have been worn for 3-4 weeks you have completed treatment and you should have straight teeth.

We generally recommend Invisalign® to patients that have more difficult cases that need longer term treatment. We consider Invisalign® as the alternative to traditional metal braces, which are typically worn for 1-2 years and are meant for full mouth/bite correction. Unlike, Six Month Smiles® which is recommended for minor movement and orthodontic relapse cases, and Simpli5™ which is recommended for short term anterior (front teeth) aesthetic movement only.

What is the Invisalign® Process?

  • 1. At your consultation, you and Dr. Rodgers will discuss your case in detail to determine if you're a good candidate for Invisalign® and if its right for you. Invisalign® now addresses many cases, from simple to more complex.
  • 2. Once you decide to get started, we will take x-rays, pictures and impressions of your teeth, which Invisalign® will use to create a digital 3-D image of them. From these images Dr. Rodgers will map out a precise treatment plan, including the exact movements of your teeth. Using this same technology, he will even be able to show you a virtual representation of how your teeth will move with each stage of treatment.
  • 3. Based on your individual treatment plan, a series of custom-made, clear aligners are then created specifically for you. These aligners are made of a smooth, comfortable BPA-free plastic that won't irritate your cheeks and gums like traditional metal braces often do. In some cases, attachments or tiny clear brackets may be glued to particular teeth if they require more force for movement. Simply wear them throughout the day, and only remove them when you eat or brush and floss your teeth. As you wear each set of aligners, your teeth gently and gradually begin to shift into place.
  • 4. Approximately every two weeks, you will begin wearing a new set of aligners, advancing you to the next stage of your treatment. To monitor your progress, you will have occasional checkups with us, typically every six weeks or so.
  • 5. While every case is unique to each patient, treatment typically takes approximately a year for adults. For best results and a timely outcome, you should wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day, throughout your entire treatment.
